
More than a dozen unions joined the writers in solidarity including the United Teachers of Los Angeles, the Service Employees International Union, Sag-Aftra and more. Thousands gathered for a massive rally in downtown Los Angeles on Friday to support the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike.

The airport hit a single-day, post-pandemic record of over 224,000 travelers on Thursday, the airport announced. Los Angeles International Airport is bracing for its busiest weekend since early 2020. Officials estimate that 2.8 million SoCal residents will travel by car, about 358,000 will travel by airplane and another 230,000 will utilize buses, trains, cruises and more to reach their destinations.

The Southern California branch of AAA estimates that 3.3 million people will travel 50 miles or more away from home this weekend, which is a 7.7% increase from last year and about half of a percent higher than 2019 numbers.

Millions of Southern California residents are expected to hit the road for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, which many consider to be the unofficial start of summer.
